You Are Capable
Fear is a powerful emotion. It's something that can motivate you or paralyze you. Just like in the real world where fear of danger cause a physiological response, fear that's purely based on your thoughts can keep you in a state of inaction.
But not everything that holds you back is based around fear. Sometimes, it's a much more nuanced emotion.
Sometimes it's about not feeling capable. Sometimes it's about feeling like you're an imposter, waiting to be found out. Sometimes it's about feeling inadequate.
We've all been there at one point or another. Had that moment when you start to wonder "What am I doing here? I'm not really ready for this. I'm not qualified."
It could be in your life at home, at work, or on some of your own personal projects. When it happens with your personal projects and working your passion it can be especially insidious, because it almost seems natural that you would feel right at home working on a passion project. And when you don't feel right at home...what next?
Don't be alarmed.
Since you can relate, you know that there are tons of other people feeling the same way. The truth is, in most cases we are capable and ready to take on what we're facing.
Take a moment to look at where these feelings are coming from. Are you having a rough day? Are you working with something new and difficult? Are you not seeing the success you initially expected?
Whatever the case, looking at the underlying cause can help you to figure out how to move past the feeling. That might be taking some time to learn more about what you're working on and practice. It could mean reigning in your expectations a little. Or it could just mean sucking it up, working as hard as you can today, and looking forward to doing a better job tomorrow when your mind is more into it.
Don't let feelings of inadequacy hold you back. We all feel them, but those who overcome them, who realize they're not helpful, are the people who reach their goals.
You are capable.
